Montana InSite Theatre (MIST) returns to Tippet Rise for “Resounding Spring: Words and Notes on the Rise” on June 27 and 28, 2026

Montana InSite Theatre (MIST) returns to Tippet Rise for “Resounding Spring: Words and Notes on the Rise” on June 27 and 28, 2026.

In 1962, Rachel Carson did something remarkable: she published a book that made a difference to public awareness, and to public policy. Silent Spring challenged its readers to think about the dangers of pesticides and to face the specter of a world without birdsong and flourishing ecosystems. The birth of the environmental movement in the ensuing decades owes a great deal to Carson’s work.

Inspired by the fundamental message behind Silent Spring, that “the more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for the destruction of our race,” MIST’s production of “Resounding Spring” celebrates the sounds of ecosystems, especially birds. Through music (instrumental and vocal), poetry, dance, and dramatic scenes, MIST performers will showcase art that encourages living in greater harmony with the environment.

Four separate tours will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28, each lasting approximately 90 minutes, and guests will move among outdoor artworks and locations through Tippet Rise’s main Cottonwood Campus. Reservations are required. The cost is $10 per person, free to guests 21 and under (reservations are still required for those 21 and under). Lunch will be available for purchase from Will’s Shed.
